Clemson +3 vs Wake Forest    5 units

Deamon Deacons offensive line is in shambles, with all new faces, which has resulted in the most sacks allowed in the conference, and the rushing game 112th in the nation. Tigers should exploit these difficiencies with an exotic scheme of blitzes making life miserable for Deac's QB Riley Skinner, who threw 4 interceptions last time out against a Navy defense that is far from being a powerhouse. Admittedly, Clemson's offense has not been that much better, but behind QB Cullen Harper, who threw for 27 TD's last year, you get the feeling they are on the verge of a breakout game. Deacons also 1-9 ats last 10 games off a bye week, while Bowden of Clemson is 10-1 last 11 on the road as a dog of 7 points or less. In a hard fought affair, we'll side with who we think is the better team, who happens to be catching points. Clemson.

Alabama Birmingham / Houston OVER 66.5  5 units

Cougars have been over machines so far in '08, even with the offense struggling with turnovers. 8 in the last 2 games, with half coming in the red zone. Despite the turnovers, Houston has put up some huge numbers offensively, ranking 2nd in the country in rushing yards per attempt and the passing game also ranking no. 2 in the nation, gaining more than 400 yards per game through the air. Combined, they are 4th in the nation in offense behind Texas Tech, Missouri, and Tulsa. And they play at a very fast pace, averaging more than 82 offensive plays per game, No.1 in the country. UAB has little chance of stopping the Cougars. The Blazers have 10 true freshman and 2 redshirt freshman in their defensive rotation, and they allowed 49 points and 540 yards in a loss to Houston last season. So far this season they can't stop the run, 178 ypg, or the pass, 283 ypg, ranking 113th in total defense out of 120 FBS teams. Their 5 FBS opponents have averaged more than 35 points per game against them, a number which Houston should reach with ease tonight. Helping us out with this total is the UAB offense, with 6'4 220 pound QB Joe Webb, who is a dual threat running and passing, in fact the 2nd leading rusher in the nation for a QB, against a Cougar D that ranks 100th against the run and 104th against the pass. This one gets there, over the total.

Philadelphia Phillies -130 vs LA Dodgers   5 units

Both pitchers in good current form, however, we have to side with Hamels, who has been better at home than Lowe on the road. Hamels 2.80 era and 1.029 WHIP, while Lowe on the road, 4.34 era and 1.385 WHIP. Hamels also 2.57 era and 0.857 WHIP in two starts vs Dodgers. Dodgers a money burning 38-45 on the road, -8.90 units, while the Phils were 50-33 at home, including a perfect 4-0 vs the Dodgers and 10-2 in their last 12 games. Go Charley!
