CREAMER WINS US OPEN

Monday July 12th

Paula Creamer has finally won a major, and in grand fashion, coming off thumb surgery, it was questionable that she could even compete this past weekend. Not only did she compete, she was the only lady in the field that was under par, and her -3 total was 4 shots better than Na Yeon Choi and Suzann Pettersen. And I'm sure her thumb may be sore this morning, but the $585,000 winning check should ease that pain. Over at the John Deere Classic in Illinois, Steve Stricker fired an amazing, 26 under par. That is 26 friggin under par. Do you know how many years it would take me to get to 26 birdies? Stricker wins by 2 shots over Paul Goydos who fired a 59 on Thursday, and picked up the winners check for $792,000.00. Over on the Nationwide Tour, Ryan Armour missed the cut by 1 shot, and finished with a triple bogey 7 on the 18th hole of the 2nd round, and I need to find out what happened as that meltdown cost him a check. Peter Tomasulo won the event with a Stricker like score of 24 under par, besting Keegan Bradley by one shot, and Kevin Chappell by 2 shots. Today we have the Ladies Invitational at the Chipp, and the Monday Night Scratch League will be at Rosemont, as we will be dodging the rain showers all day. We are sorting through the emails, adding up the winners, and that should be posted here shortly. We have more Cavs, Jesse Jackson, the World Cup, and more in the Monday edition of Chipp Shots.
